The true extent of the matter, as I have been coming from, has been one of trust and respect, not entitlement because someone thinks they are "owed" something by purchasing a licensing agreement and can't wait for an official release of a patch. No big deal is the understatement of the past few weeks here.

It would seem that beta RC2 is now available for download http://download. microsoft.com/download/C/1/6/C169BA60-E2D6-4C5F-B4F2-23DA024C9FA8/xpSP2.exe but does anyone know the version of this one? Anyway, you can uninstall it. Run the TP Installer program again (I thought it was under Start/Programs/Turnpike, but I don't seem to have it there; it's accessible from Control panel, or you could just find wherever you stashed the original download, and rerun that. Choose Modify and untick PGP.

Unfortunately, the IE7 download deletes iertutil.dll and leaves you high and dry (and probably anyone else with XP Home SP2 who has downloaded today). Now I don't have a browser and can't open email, and can't run System Restore! BEWARE! (I'm writing this on my backup PC). Any ideas on a recovery strategy?

If they can't get those right, I doubt that they do any better on the paid service. Not that I'd know. I'm not dumb enough to pay for something that ought to be free. Every single thing that I've ever seen offered for download on Fileplanet is something that should be (and often is) available elsewhere at no cost.
